Cruising up the east coast recommendations

Well we are currently in south Florida. We are looking to head up the coast this summer/fall. Then we are going to the Bahamas come December or so. I'm looking for recommendations for cool places to stop from while heading up the coast. We would like to make it to Maine but we will see. Top on my list is NYC. I want to take a pic of the statue of liberty from my boat....stupid I know but it's just one of those things. Martha's vineyard area is also top of the list. Where else should we go while heading up the coast? j Some cool small town places would be really neat.

You might want to get the Embassy Guide books for the East Coast and see where you can get in. The channel into our harbor is quite narrow, for example.

Sail direct to Nantucket, Marthas Vineyard, Cuttyhunk and Block island. Then work your way south. It's too hot mid atlantic to be cruising in the summer. Its actually cooler in FL with the sea breeze every day.
