Re: Decadence

My Idea of decadence would be a new woodstove for the cabin

Re: Decadence

Consumer goods, for example ice makers, have warranted many comments in this thread.

These goods are not expensive. An ice maker costs $100- $150!

It is often not the appliance that is decadent, rather it is having the resources such as power and water to run these devices that is the important factor. For true decadence these resources need to produced without hassle (noise, vibration, time spent servicing and repairing, or undue time spent in marinas).

That is why things like ice cubes, or a long hot shower etc. are so decadent.

Re: Decadence

In Southern Bahamas, 2 weeks without any refrigeration, another couple came by to say hello. They had ICE in there rum punches and RATTELED the cubes the whole time visiting! so, my vote is: ICE, ICE CREAM,FROZEN COCKTAIL and ANYTHING COLD!

ToTo Brand heated toilet seat with warm water bidet included, on your electric macerator toilet.

Re: Decadence

Ice at sea for the one a day sundowner is pure decadence, especially 20 days out, when all the fresh stuff is pretty well gone. Our no freezer buddy boats were plain jealous.

But carefully horded Ice cream bars, 2 weeks out, in sweltering doldrums .......that’s what made them rave!

Of course, you also need an SSB to fully exploit the moment
