DEKPA For VAT Paid, Non-EU Boat?

Hi All,

We're buying a VAT-paid boat in Greece and staying in Greece, but we intend to register it in the USA. It is our understanding that this will not affect the VAT status. My confusion lies in whether we can still receive a DEKPA or if we will have to use a transit log, and if the latter, what are the implications.

Specifically, DEKPAs are given for EU-registered boats - does this extend to non-EU boats that are VAT paid? If not and if we have to take a transit log instead, will we have to leave for a day each 18 months even though the VAT is paid?
