I have a now obsolete Franz. You can use Gulf Coast filter or any other 1 micron absolute. In the photo you see the Frantz filter and the small gray cylinder behind to the left is the pump. Fuel is lifted in a separate dip pipe by the pump, forced through the filter and returns to the tank by the regular dip pipe to the Racors. Circulation rate is 45 gallons per hour. This is about ten times the engine burn rate. This guarantees that the Racors see only filtered fuel. If the circulation pump were to fail then the system simply reverts to the original design direct suction to the Racors.

The second picture shows a spare element for the filter.

Re: Do-dads, gizmos, and things that make life aboard easier

A wonderpot that can be used to bake on the stove top - I have an Origo wicking 2-burner stove but no oven.
The Omnia oven is the one I bought which is compact, but pretty expensive at about $70.

Another good item for a small boat stove is a Boaties' Fry Pan. It is rectangular, compact and has a lip for sliding omelettes or pancakes etc. off onto a plate. The handle is ovenproof, fwiw. You can buy a lid for the fry pan. In Canada I bought mine from Marine Outfitters.

I grew up watching Bill Cullen. Nice guy.

Any new items mentioned here for the second edition?

Maybe the book is one of those gadgets?

Re: Do-dads, gizmos, and things that make life aboard easier

My life has been made easier by my Dylviw endoscope camera. This is a very small camera on the end of a 3 meter cable that you can bend and will keep the shape. Yesterday I used it to read the serial number on a battery that I could not get to and to inspect my propeller. It is water proof, has dimmable lights built in and plugs into my phone. All for $22 at Amazon. I use it several times each week. This model has a USB C connector which may not be right for your phone / tablet.
