Flare Gun

I have a 12 gauge flare gun aboard, is it legal to go to Mexico with it?

Re: Flare Gun

Good question. You can go to jail in Mexico for having a single .22 cartridge in your possession. It is possible to bring in hunting rifles or shotguns, but permits and paperwork are needed. Probably best to call a Mexican embassy or consulate for guidance. Don't mention 12 gauge or they will automatically think "firearms". Just call it a plastic signal flare pistol.

Last time we were in Mexico was two years ago with 4 current and roughly a dozen expired flares. No problems at all a all

Re: Flare Gun

It's a flare launcher, not a pistol. Pistols are fire arms and illegal in some places.

Re: Flare Gun

Whatever you do, DON'T use words like "12 gauge" and "gun" and "pistol" when talking to anybody.

They're totally illegal here, by the way.

You weren't paying attention. It's "flare launcher."

Re: Flare Gun

flare guns just really just aren't a "weapon"
