Found a Great Little Alarm System

I had been searching for a simple alarm system that included a high cabin temperature alarm as I have a dog on board. Living in Texas I wanted to be able to leave the boat with my dog on board and not worry about the air conditioning going out for what ever reason. I had searched, but everything I found was rather expensive and the temperature alarm feature was at best optional. I found one made by a company out of the UK I think and available in Canada. The brand is Mobeye and it features a high and low temperature alarm along with two additional sets of contacts (one NO and one NC) to use for other sensors. The cost was only around $250 and uses a user supplied sim card. It's powered by an internal battery or the boats 12V system. Works great and now I can go into town for meetings and such and not worry about my best friend. If interested, do a search on "Mobeye". Seems to be available in EU and Canada.

The unit sends a text message and calls your (and several others if you want) phone. You have to supply a sim card and have a cell plan. I got T Mobile with a pay as you go plan that runs $40 year. Easy to program via your phone.

The Mobeye is mainly a temperature alarm with two additional set of contacts for whatever other sensors you might want to add. I was mainly interest in the temperature feature and attracted to the price of $250. Nothing else was close in price.

No. I just went to the T mobile store. Paid 20 for the sim card and I get like 60 mins or text for $10 good for 90 days. More than enough for a few text messages as it only sends text and calls in an alarm situation. If I remember I did search on line at their site. I just bought 60 last month for $10.

Re: Found a great little alarm system

By the way the only down side to T Mobile is that I can't seem to set up an online account as they send you a text to the sim card. That won't work. So I just drop in the store 4 times a year. I suppose I could put the sim card in an old t mobile phone and set up the account then put it back in the alarm. The alarm has no key pad or anything. You call it to program it.

This sounds cool. You could use the NO or NC for security sensors.

You can't use the NO or NC as inputs, they are outputs for an audible alarm etc.

It has a temp. and movement sensor build-in.

BTW its a Dutch product;
