Heating............

I live aboard my sailboat in the Northeast area of the US. I have lived aboard several boats over the course of 30 years. I have heated my boats from a few different ways. I have heated from wood burning, coal burning, diesel burning and plugged into electric.

In the end, I decided that a bulked mounted diesel or kero heater is in the end result the best buy!

Currently I run 2 AirTronic 4 heaters costing over 6 thousand dollars installed.....Ok except each of these two units require $600 rebuilds after only 2 seasons. The blower motor....$230.00 and glow plug $155.00 and labor??????....Point being.....I paid $600 dollars above fuel so far this winter.....and should not have......

Re: HEATING............

15 degreees in NY now, I run a simple bulkhead drip burner diesel as well as an electric oil filled radiator. Only burn the diesel when really cold as I feel it is expensive to run.

Hi...we are not all alone....living aboard and heating. Insulate as well as possible......I put R30 home insulation covered w/ tarps...over the main cabin and use gorilla tape to seal in.
