Maybe go here and ask if they can do a search... you'll need the ID;No and name and current owners name.. also previous owner..

Go to "OFFICE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY" and click on "find by Official Number". Enter the documentation number (544170) and you will get a list of previous owners. Good Luck!

While that reveals the names of previous owners prior to that documentation (which expired at the end of October, '04), it doesn't even list the then-owner. Chances are that the last owner on the documentation donated it to a charity, but contacting him (if he can be located) might help to establish the provenance so that a legitimate Florida title could be obtained.

If in Florida, there might be a possibility of a "salvage" title.

how did you get this? where did you get the name? How did you search, what did you search? dang... i used to be so good with computers and all that logic stuff...

so, what do you think? it is coast guard registered... not titled?

If the hull is good shape, and the motor is ok, then it seems like the thing to do...

i could paint her and re rig her and be within my budget and all that good stuff...

I guess i will pu tthis on my mapquest route...

thanks for the link but i am aware of normal rules for getting thru a dmv, what i dont know is how to buy a vehicle from a person who doesnt have a title..

does he need to go get a 'duplicate' title before he sells it to me... can he just fill out a bill of sale, and i can take that to get the old tile transferred?

what if he never changed the title when he bought it from the auction? so he 'jumped' title... for five years???

if there is a uscg registration info then do i need to deal with florida at all?

should i call uscg or florida dmv?
