Hurricane Sandy Flashback

I have had very high winds out of the northwest all day, feels like the same arctic air that made the winter so challenging. Tonight when I got back to the boat my guess is sustained wind speeds up to 45mph coming across Stony Point Bay on the Hudson River.

I am still running the diesel heater every night as the temps continue to fall to the 30's, lived in this area all my life and can't ever remember a winter like this one.
Wind is strong enough to heel the boat in the slip causing distinctive memories of riding out hurricane Sandy here two years ago.

Just finished a nice meal of pasta and orange juice and sitting safe and warm in my good little ship.

Re: Hurricane Sandy Flashback

I live in lindenhurst new york and tried to ride the storm out in my house which is on a canal. I bailed at 8 pm wading through chest high water in the street and still 3 more hours of rising water on the way. But youre right the wind has been honking and the rebuild in some of those winter temperatures was BRUTAL looking forward to moving to the carribean in a year or two and living on a cat. keep warm.
