Re: If you won the lottery

If we are talking the billion dollar lottery...

1) Gunboat G4 because it is awsome
2) a FPB 78 for going anywhere
3) a fleet of A-Class Catamarans because they are the most fun you can have on a sailboat
4) sailing lessons by Glen Ashby

I would fly to Bora-Bora and buy this boat: We sell our Lagoon 440 in Bora-Bora

It would be a J Class--if I could afford it.

Re: If you won the lottery

I would hire Cheoy Lee to build me a custom clipper 60, with all lines leading aft.
I would hire Led Zepplin to play at my first port of call.....

I would hire the rolling stones to play at my second port of call...

I'd hire Ozzy to play at my third....

I'd hire AC/DC to play at my fourth.....

I'd hire.....

Oh...I forgot I'd hire Boatman Phil to dress up as Popeye at each port....

and help Zeehag get Solitary bird in shape so she could get to those ports....

Re: If you won the lottery

I'd buy a used Jeanneau Sunfast 35 and set it up to single-hand.

Some days I'd race, some days I'd cruise, and some days I'd just take a nap.

Re: If you won the lottery

I was thinking about this the other day. My answer changes a bit but currently runs along these lines.

I would have someone, Kasten?, design/build me a heavily built staysail schooner that would fit under ICW bridges, that could be single handed and that was very simple. Well kitted out but that could be sailed by one with a total power failure.

They have one design that shows a diesel electric drive. I think maybe two Diesel engines with one shaft. Either diesel could drive the Electic motor. Either engine could drive the generator. Either could drive both at once.

Interior set up for single couple with space for 2 more people. No big crowd. I'd like it to have some flex space that could be used for cargo.

Along those lines.

Re: If you won the lottery

If you are talking about powerball money of twenty million or so. I would buy an old Swan 47 and have the factory completely redo the boat with an eye towards shorthand sailing. I would park it in front of my new condo on Coronado Island. I would have a new Pacific Seacraft 40 pilot house made and it would be docked at my new home in Brickyard Cove (in Pt Richmond CA). I would get a J160 and park it in Antigua for getting rid of my tan lines. I would waste the rest of the money.
