Re: Keehi Small Boat Harbor - Anyone Have Personal Experience ?

I'm on the list and have been going by when I'm on Oahu. The last time I was there, a boat had sunk on one of the piers on the Diamond Head side of the marina. The boat was barely awash but was completely surrounded by stuff in the water. Looked like the boat's deck had been totally loaded with junk that floated off when it sunk.

They had made progress on the new finger pier but there was no sign that they were getting ready to let slips on it. Waiting list is supposedly only about a year. Assume that is because they are counting on that pier to soak up a lot of the waiting list.

I wouldn't worry about being a short of the needed length. You can add things to increase the length relatively easily. Size is based on the overall length not the length the builder states. It's a real problem when you are over length as chainsaws are dangerous to operate.

They are making some effort to clean up the marina though it seems painfully little. Still a bunch of derelicts though it looks like they are condemning some of them. Would hope they are going to replace the pier pictured above when the new ones are finally put into service.

Re: Keehi Small Boat Harbor - Anyone Have Personal Experience ?

The problem with Keehi is the part of town it's in. In every city, the industrial/port side of town is where the derelicts gravitate to. So it's only logical there are crack head homeless "boat people" in an totally open, non secure boat harbor managed by pencil neck geek state bureaucrats.

Hey, piver 31 trimaran moored out in the harbor popped up for sale today on CL. Asking 8k. Sold for 3k late last year. Must be a rehab job.
