Live aboard regs for NZ

Hi

Does anyone know where I can check out the cost, availability and regs for semi-permanent anchorage and/or moorings in NZ?

Are moorings negotiated on private land a thing?

Thanks

Phone around to the marinas: some of them have swing moorings. See what happens when you try to negotiate what you want.

It's been a long time since we were there, but Westhaven used to allow living aboard. However, we were visitors, not NZ citizens, .... and anyway, things may have changed.

As a nation, NZ historically has been friendly to cruisers. However, in more recent times people have flouted their laws while guests, and so the attitude may have changed.

have a look at this site. It is our (NZ) version of craigslist. Use "mooring" when searching as the category header is "Marinas". There are plenty available around the country and obviously some areas are more desirable than others. If you are planning to visit the border is not open unless you are a NZ resident or wish to spend a significant amount refitting your vessel.
