Liveaboard Location II - Florida Panhandle

O.k...the boat owner contacted me..I've got a expert who owns on of these hopefully going out to look at it. Wife calling the Real Estate agent...next is the job and location.

As I stated in a previous post, My work office is wherever I sleep/live. I leave from my home..go do my job and come back. For the most part, 60-70% of my work is in Georgia (Atlanta, Macon, Stone Mountain, Savannah, Conyers, Marietta). As long as I can drive there in about 5 hours or so...I should be good. I'm thinking somewhere between Apalachee bay and Panama City.

Anybody know of a nice Marina/Yacht Club with some nice amenities (I will have a wife and 8 year old boy) that allows liveaboards?

Thanks for your advice

Panama City Marina allows liveaboards. Not sure what you are looking for in the way of amenities, but if you are looking for a "resort type" marina, this ain't it. No pool, no clubhouse, no tennis courts or golf course, no on site bar or restaraunt. On the other hand, if you are looking for a well kept, well protected, professionally operated marina with EZ access to public transportation, 24 hour security, fuel, pump out, small marina store, walking distance to downtown panama city, lots of parking, and so on, here it is. All it lacks is charm. And as a practical matter, Panama City is about as close as you can get in driving time to Atlanta.

Zydeco, do you know about the rate for a Gemini (34 ' w/14' beam)?

I would love to find a "resort type" Marina if possible. Budget is < $600-$700 a month. Just want to have things for my family to do 9especially a pool for my son) while I'm gone.

Kid friendly atmosphere also

Panama City Marina charges by the slip rather than boat length or width. Here is their rate sheet Panama City Marina: Rate Chart and a map of the marina Panama City Marina: Marina Map. I've seen Geminis on dock 6 and you could probably also fit into some of the slips on dock 2 and for sure alongside dock 3. Bay Point Marina is the only resort-type marina I can think of in Panama City. I don't know if they allow liveaboards though.

Do a Google Search on Port Saint Joe Marina..A lot of boaters here go there on their "vacation". I've never been there but I always here great things about it.
They don't have liveaboards, they have extended stays.
