Re: Living Aboard in Vancouver?

Spruce harbor on false Creek is the only approved liveaboard marina in Vancouver proper, although the city does issue a few liveaboard permits for other marinas. The waiting list for a liveaboard slip at Spruce harbor is, I'm told, about 10 years, and you need to buy shares in the Co-op for around $50,000.

Yes, I looked into it. The website says the waitlist is 5-7 years unless you buy a boat that's already there, then you can buy the shares. Yes, it is 50,000 but the annual fees are like 1,000 which is next to nothing. Heather civic marina and coal harbour also offer live aboard boatslip mooring rentals on a monthly basis.

Do it again in January and we'll come over from the Island. Right now we're landlocked west of Houston but thinking of the coast.

Re: Living Aboard in Vancouver ?

We'r legit liveaboards here at Mosquito. Yes, it's true that Spruce Harbour is the only
cooperative in Vancouver, but there are other options. Shelter Island actively accepts liveaboards. Mosquito is no longer accepting, we go in just as they started enforcing that rule.
We're in for Wednesday at Monks!

Re: Living Aboard in Vancouver ?

Liveaboard=sneakaboard in Vancouver, when asked by the staff at the marina say, no then they don't need to do anything, but you have to be very low key. I have lived all over Vancouver and had one of the Liveaboard spots in Cole Harbour when they went in many years ago.

Re: Living Aboard in Vancouver ?

I'm not sure about doing a mailing group but we do have the PNW group here at the forum. I wonder if we could make it work?

Re: Living Aboard in Vancouver ?

Hi, I'd like to join in on a meet up if it happens again or becomes a regular thing. I liveaboard in Squamish with my girlfriend and our dog. It would be nice to get to know some other boat people who are also braving the winter aboard a boat.
