Couple days left till end of this months budget ends and I think I’m going to be $500 under budget and am trying to decide how many crab claws it would take to correct the “problem”

Not a bad way to reach budget. I've never had that problem but I would suggest a few orders of calamari to help.

Sailor boy I notice you have a pretty healthy gift budget. I wish you were my father-in-law. The best Gift from my in-laws is a pair of socks and a reminder how lucky I am to have married their daughter!

I like to see categories like gifts and holiday travel and medical pop up as reminders to all of those occasional items. We've helped some young people budget and often it goes "and what about when?" and they go "oops, I hadn't thought of that."

You can offset the crab claw count by pairing them with fine wine.

You know I could have played the budget thread “not counting” card this month and said we spent $2535. Bet I could even get below $2000 with a couple more doesn’t count accounting tricks. Just like I could say that it has only cost us about $5000 to cruise the past 12 months

In my planning spreadsheet for budgeting I have an inflation factor. It is kind of scarcy what that says my begainning monthly budget becomes in 15 years using that.
