I just brought up the age of the discussion since SailorBoy1 has sold the boat which is why his boat information is "missing." I found his expense information helpful.
That would be me apparently. I will promise to check the dates before posting in the future so as to not upset anyone. I still appreciate the effort SB1 puts into his posts.

Re: Month 20 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat

Hey SB. Was that you who used to maintain a spreadsheet of your sailing expenses? I think I remember that from a few years back and that was super helpful.
It would be pretty cool if you kept that in a (public) Google Sheet so that lurking sailors like me to keep an eye on it - you can grant everyone else reader access while you have editor access. I can't tell you how many times I used to reference that when discussing plans for our future and it would be amazing to keep on top of that while the cost of living/sailing keeps going up.

At any rate, it's terrific to have a window into real-world data of other people. When we take off, I hope to do the same, but that will be in a number of years now.

Did just normal boat maintenance plus had a diver scrape the garden off the bottom (that picked up over 1 knot and 300 engine rpms).

Spent a lot of time on anchor and when in someplace that allowed this met we went out to dine/drink.

Stayed in a slip twice (first time in 6 months) and on some Town moorings

The total expenses were $ 2,421.75. Cost breakdown as follows for you planners and hecklers:

Food, soda, alcohol, clothing, sundries - $ 661.75
Boat upgrades, repairs, maintenance - $ 266.34
Fuel (diesel, gas, propane) - $ 288.34
Dining out - $ 774.77
Entertainment - $ 94.16
Communication, storage, shipping - $ 1`20.72
Fees – $ -67.72
Marina - $ 263.20
Electric - $ 0
Medical - $ 20.19
Transportation - $ 119.31

Seems reasonable - even a little extravagant.

Clearly - you ate well and did not deny yourselves the nectar of the gods. You were judicious in your choice of anchorages.
You were less than frugal when it came to fuel consumption - the greenies will be shaking a finger at you.

All in all I would be comfortable - even happy with this budget for 2. If you were both on social security you would even manage to save a few pennies.
