Re: Moving to a boat in the leeward islands. What to bring?

We like quick dry clothing like those from Columbia, LL Bean, Royal Robbins... it is easy to wash them on board with a bit of soap in a dry bag or a sink, or you can get fancy and use a bucket and plunger. We use swim shirts to cut down on mess of sunscreen and provide sun protection. You'll want a couple of hats, a couple of pairs of sunglasses with retainers, extra reading glasses, prescription meds, unlocked mobile phone for local SIM cards... waterproof Pelican-style case for your video gear with padlock and cable lock.

A lot of things are cheaper on STM than the US. Look for used paper charts of the southern Caribbean.

Good luck!

Cheers, RickG

Re: Moving to a boat in the leeward islands. What to bring?

I bought 21 pairs of super cheap (walmart) underpants....to greatly increase the amount of time between doing loads of laundry. While my crew mates were busy scrubbing out skid marks in a bucket, mid atlantic, I was sitting pretty. Just sayin.
