I never heard it once in America. I think I heard it on the original Crocodile Dundee movie.
No I didn't find it "thrilling" Clyde. I Just thought it was a refreshing change from the usual stuff. Maybe you've seen it all and done it all a million times, but I believe the video was about a group of young people who are learning about all this for the first time. It's nice to see people who enthusiastic about sailing the world, don't you think?

"Crikey" is probably British, but used also in North America. It's just a polite way to express surprise (instead of saying "Christ").

You're a pretty uptight guy Clyde, so I will smile, bow gracefully and leave it at that.

That's cool, brother Copa. No uptightness here, just posting opinions online.

By the way, and just so you know, crikey is never used in N. America. Cheers.

Re: New sailing movie out on youtube

Loved it and thanks for sharing. What's coming next? A little more stability on land? Hoping for a sequel.

Our story was much the same..jump on a 39' and shove off from a frigid NY winter; learn fast by making dumbass mistakes; eventually come upon the beautiful wild turquoise abyss that is the bahamas. Cant imagine a better place to be lost and found.

Yeah, you should post only videos about rich, ugly and fat people. They're not boring (especially those pretending to wear wigs).

Re: New sailing movie out on youtube

Just watched the first few minutes but will have to save the rest until later. So far so good. It's great to see young folks chasing the dream. Nowadays it seems that cruising has become an outdoor version of assisted living. Buncha us old farts floating around in fiberglass palaces. On a side note, where do I get one of those cutlass grip stick shift knobs?

I've never heard Crikey used in the USA unless spoken by an Aussie. Steve Irwin ( Crocodile Hunter ) said Crikey A LOT.

Gotta love the Aussies for their colorful language.

I grew up in Canada and it was used there, but Canada has a lot of British English in their vocabulary. I just assumed it was universal!

One could start a MASSIVE thread just on "STRINE" Cracks me up when I'm in Australia and hear how they can lay that stuff on thick......think they do it on purpose just to show off to us yanks.

Oh, and they will look at you as if you're retarded if you don't understand what they're talking about. Rego?....you wanna see my rego? WTF is that? "Your r-e-g-i-s-t-r-a-t-i-o-n" dumbass.

Sorry for the drift.. Back on topic......just a so so video. Needs A LOT more T and A to keep my attention.

Actually Canada is the originator of Crikey!
It is a derivative of:
Christ Eh!
Their contribution to the Commonwealth

Keep mine trimmed with a razor.. keeps the stink of sweat to a minimum..
As for the hairy armpits.. you sure they were Spanish women..?? definitely not a Portuguese fault.. Depilation is a major industry here..
