Paperwork at the beginning of cruising?

Hi all,

I have a question for experienced cruisers, or anyone who knows the procedure for setting off?
Scenario: I have just bought my yacht which is located in Denia Spain, It is now UK flagged, having previously been Swiss flagged.
We plan to depart Denia at the end of march. I am a UK national, my wife is a Ukraine national. She will arrive soon to Alicante and get her usual stamp into the EU (Schengen area).
We plan to sail down the coast towards Gib, Portugal, Morocco, destination to be decided depending on entry limitations with regards to the ongoing situation with Covid - 19.
Question: When we depart Denia, which I believe is a port of entry, do we need to get some document etc from the authorities in Denia as it we be our starting point for around 2 months of cruising, ultimately arriving in the eastern med, hopefully Greece.

Longwinded story, but any pointers or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Ray.

You must ask the port authority

The present situation is new

My guess is that you may be required to check in and out of every port

Record your movements

The marina offices will know of any new procedures

Ask them

You might , on the internet , visit the Gibraltar port authority website

For some years now that have had electronic pre check in for vessels calling at gib

Valuable info may be on their website

Obviously its all new with this unprecedented situation. We will be heavily stocked, I do have to go to Morocco, to jump out of the EU are the boat is not yet EU Vat paid, I tried to pay it in Spain but they wouldn't let me :-/

Re: Gib, cruisers have to have been 'cruising' for 15 days if the port of departure was a Covid 19 infected country.

Another important detail must be your crew list

Who , when did they join and what nationality

You must ask for current info

Yes, we will keep all documents etc from prior recent travels, receipts etc for moorings, fuel etc...

difficult times for everyone and cruising has just got significantly more challenging!

Morocco closed all commercial air and sea links with France, Spain and Gibraltar as of a few hours ago. I expect Portugal and Italy is included.

Re: Paperwork at the beginning of cruising?

On a lighter note.

Have a copy of your boat registration encapsulated - much more durable than the original and if it gets left behind somewhere is no big deal.

A "chop" (rubber stamp) with the boat details including port of registry and official number goes a long way in island nations and Asia generally and is a requirement in some countries when dealing with customs (importing boat parts).

We have a waterproof pack with "multiple" copies of passports, crew-list, registration document, insurance certificate and vaccination history. Multiple; we have checked into some countries that require 6 copies of each.

We always make a copy of entry and clearance documents for every port.
