Part 1 of the dream is down!

I've been lurking for quite awhile, reading with interest and sometimes amusement the various posts on here. Well I've taken step one towards the liveaboard dream. The boat is purchased. A 1977 Chrysler 30'. So I thought I'd say hello, and warn you that I"m sure there will be more questions now that I actually have a boat. The fun just starts once you get the boat! Questions like, what did I just do, come to mind

ya mean its really more like WTF did I just do. I pray you have much fun and success with your "new to u" sailing vessel. I know jack squat, but this forum is a great place to get ed-u-ma-kated, and full of great people, and them con·de·scend·ing ones too, makes for a nice mix! May your sailing life be blessed.

Re: Part 1 of the dream is down!

Congrats and good luck! I made the big jump 12 years ago- still have the same boat. Would not trade her for anything. I know every inch of her, good and bad. We are old friends now and have established several understandings with each other. I won't take her out in a hurricane and she won't strand me under the draw-bridge. Stuff like that...

Enjoy getting to know your new best friend. Keep us all posted as you are now living the dream!

Welcome! I thought the same things. Then my thoughts were "What's next?"

I haven't even had my boat in the water yet but still having fun getting to know the boat through a few projects and getting things ready to go.

Enjoy!

A big step! Congratulations! Just remember to keep the stick in the air and the water on the outside and you are 99% there. Take your time and enjoy each day and know that you are now one of those people that those on shore are looking at wishing they were you. Well, most of the time anyway.

Re: Part 1 of the dream is down!

Welcome. Hope to hear from you as you progress in your dream. We started 2 years ago with a cruise-and -learn basic course, then bought a Hunter 31, and have had a great time and adventure since. We just toured the Bavaria Vision 46, so we can keep dreaming too. $omeday, $omeday...

Congrats. We moved aboard about 14 years ago and still going strong. Also note that we moved onto a 25 Catalina as our first live-aboard experience. Much smaller than your 30.

Re: Part 1 of the dream is down!

You're one step ahead of us! The house is sold - closing this week, the worldly goods sold or parcelled to family and friends, we have identified a boat - '82 Morgan 416 Out Island, and are waiting for the admiral to finish her work on 4/30/13. Our lease is up on 4/30/13 so 5/1 is D-Day!! In the meantime we need to endure 5 more months of western NY weather and taxes, but it's only 5 months! See you out there!
