Re: Planning a life change in Key West

Not trying to discourage you from buying a boat (neighbor is selling is very in shape Morgan 33 for 10K here in Florida) but most young folks down in KW share houses with other folks - especially bartenders and service people.

You may want to look into a house share. Its a cool place to do that.

The reason I say this is simple - Florida just passed an anchoring ban for select areas. I'm hazarding a guess that KW and the surrounding areas are going to quickly seek out their own ban so you can say goodbye to the few anchorages that are local to KW.

Sounds like you have a lot to think about. Key sweat is a fun and exciting place. I wish you lots of luck in making your decision by tomorrow. Please come back and let us know what ends up happening.

Re: Planning a life change in Key West

...I get the impression this guy didn't make it, good for him I imagine he'd have been miserable, lost his GF and become yet another who sleeps at the shelter, makes his way to McDonalds at sunrise in the morning working his way to Mallory square everyday

Key worst has got to be the worst place to buy a boat, try to become a boat person LOL...
