Putting a boat to bed

Living in the tropics is wonderful except when you have to leave the boat for an extended absence. To minimize interior mold issues many people here in Bocas Marina rent dehumidifiers but that comes with rental and power charges. I know there are formaldehyde pouches that can prevent mold but those are non-existent here.

Has anyone had success using a chlorine tablet (or granular chlorine from a pool supply store) in a glass bowel that sits on the fridge? I've heard rumors that it works.

Re: Putting a boat to bed

We use a Tea Tree Oil mixture to wipe down all wood surfaces, White Vinegar mixture for all other surfaces and put out 6-8 disposable pie tins filled with charcoal around the interior and have had pretty good results for up to 6 months of storage.

Re: Putting a boat to bed

Could it hurt? Maybe having it wiped down every month or so is the way to go @ $5 an hour. The "Sun Packs"only last about 3 months, someone has to come aboard and activate a new bag every few months, or they do no good.
