Re: Rats

There are traps that electrocute now, also suffocate using CO2 but more expensive.

Baiting rat traps with cheese is an urban legend.
But mice and cheese makes for such great theater!

I've had really good luck with peanut butter. The other trick is to put it under the trigger shoe. That way they have to work harder to get to it, which is more effective at triggering the snap.

Further trickery is to put small nails through the wood from the underside to align next to where the bar comes down. I personally have time lapse video of large rats wriggling out of snap traps and wandering off injured to die somewhere hidden in my walls Including a few nails gives the trap the ability to bite and pin the critter. Even further trickery is to tether the trap so they don't drag the whole thing off. It also gives you a quick way to pick the mess up and dispose of it without having to get too close to the mutilated rodent.

A rat is not going to down in a half-filled 5 gallon bucket. It can stand and keep it's head out of water, but the water will keep it from jumping.

So you'll just be letting go a tired wet rat.

Re: Rats

So I was sitting watching TV last night and happened to look out of a porthole that was open. I looked across to a powerboat next to me that was Irma ravaged and saw the silhouette of a rat the size of a small child. So now I know where the rats are coming from. By the way that boat is for sale he wants 20,000 dollars.
No extra charge for the rats

Re: Rats

I had barn cats. If fed they didn't hunt aggressively. With minimal food they caught rats & mice. Venezuela uses this same method now but with people.

Re: Rats

A cat. Let the rat fear your boat, instead of the other way around.
