RV to SV

So the motorhome is up for sale. Have a showing this week so that is good.
Anyway, it's been about 8 years since I was here and we have decided to ditch the RV for a SV. However, first time and all we are wondering what we should really consider for first sailboat budget. I am sure like everything else that number is relative. But, we were thinking of staying under $50K for the first round. We would use this sailboat mainly in Michigan and Florida. Plan is to have it in Michigan the first summer to use and get used to then take it to Florida for the winter.
But with anything, you do not know what you do not know.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
As soon as the RV sells we will be actively looking at boats. We have been researching boats for a long time and I have a short list. Personally I love the look of the Hunter 36.
We are heading down to the Keys in a month to rent a sailboat, not to sail, but to stay on for a few nights. We have both been on a sailboat and that is what started everything. Though instead of getting a boat at the time we chickened out and got the RV.

Good luck, in that price range for a 36' should be doable. Tons of boats in S. Fla. Its a bit interesting, most people first sail then become CROWS.

What does CROWS mean?
I have spent half my life on the water, just not in a sailboat. Been on friends sailboats a lot, but just for day trips and whatnot.

I was like ‘research vessel to sailing vessel...?’

Welcome to incredible adventures...but be prepared to spend. Having owned lots of toys, boats have proven to be the most expensive...in terms of proper planned and unplanned maintenance.

Sailing is the easy part. First learn how to inspect a prospective boat.
