Re: SHTF and Boats

Civilisations come and go, order always gets restored largely because it has too. Losers turn into winners and vice versa. The great thing is very very few perceive the correct out come. Those that do are unlikely to be yacht owners

The societies we in the West enjoy were built on the hard work our ancestors and their determination to build such societies, often at great personal cost, even life itself.

The hallmark of the West now, is the culture of apathy, narcissism, greed and amorality, if not actual immorality, that has been fostered over the last couple of generations.

The reality is that most of our fellow citizens are too ignorant, apathetic (trusting) and unprepared to survive any major disruption of our house of cards, and of course too self-absorbed to see the point in doing so - their apathy which permitted if not created societal decline has its corollary in their unconcern over what form the resulting future society might take, and the kind of lives their descendants -those who spared the time from self-gratification to have any - will live.

Yes, they do; the trick of course is to be where one is "coming" rather than "going".

Many perceive the "correct outcome" of historical events and trends while the rocks are still on the horizon, but can't even get a message to the bridge, much less change the course of the ship of state.

Those with the sense to see what others refuse to see can only prepare themselves individually as best they can for the shipwreck.

Even recent history demonstrates that those who get well off the lee shore before the storm hits can often ride it out; the others drown.

Fools are usually optimists and optimists are often fools.

SHTF and Boats

The point is few people reliably see the correct out comes , often those that are proven right are so proven more by luck then a series of logical conclusions ,

But I don’t agree the hallmark of the west is amorality and apathy. It’s not more or less apathetic then it always was.

The one thing for sure is dry land will always be better then a boat in a serious SHTF period and communities will be more productive and safer then being on your own.

One man's luck is another man's foresight, or experience.
Many/most say never lay a hull, I've done it twice in heavy weather on two different boats and survived, undamaged.
Its not what you've got, it's how you use it..

Yup.. 5.5 days laid a hull watching green water occasionally wash over the saloon deck hatch while trying not to spill one's fresh coffee as the boats picked up and rushed sideways does lead to much deep reflection..
WTF am I out here.?????
