spares list

I am doing the World Arc 2017. I have an older boat but have done a recent major refit, new engine, new generator, new navigation equipment etc.
What is wise to carry as spares?
I know I have to do a lot of thinking and come up with my own list but I am interested in your experience.
Would love to see your list and opinion of what is enough and what is too much.

Re: spares list

Tools that will allow you to remove, repair and install any part on the boat. Electrical wire, heat shrink, crimping tools, terminals.

Spares for the autopilot. Hydraulic oil if the system is hydraulic.

Re: spares list

DeepFRZ,
As far as an autopilot, I have a new B&G autopilot. I do not think it is hydraulic. (I have some learning to do with all the new items on the boat)
Would you take the whole unit (complete) as a spare or certain parts more likely to fail?
I have a Monitor windvane that I hope to use a lot to take wear off the autopilot. In this way I have two forms of steering other than self steering.
Thanks for your help!

Re: spares list

All marinized engine parts - including a spare mixing elbow, salt water pump, fresh water pump, impeller annually etc. One of the more unusual things we replaced was the throttle linkeage -- major jerry-rig, but it still works.

We have a Monitor windvane, the only spare parts we needed was extra line to replace frayed line after a while. We had the spares kit just in case.

Here's a link to a blog post I wrote on spares we didn't anticipate...

13 Spares You Never Knew You Needed

Hopefully you'll be starting to get some ideas for your own spares list!
