Now, of course, comes the most important part. You will need to procure and compare perhaps two or three dozen bottles of champagne, or rum, in order to determine which one to buy for the casting-off toast.

If you do that once a week...time's running out already!!

Congrats! With all that new found time, do you want to help with an aluminum boat project

Re: That's it, I'm done!

Congratulations! That is awesome, especially that you still have until December before you really need to be done. Bravo!

December will be here very quickly. Enjoy these last few months.

Cheers, Bill

Re: That's it, I'm done!

I saw this thread title and I thought it was going to be a tale of giving up, "That's it I'm done!" I'm quiting!....I can't take it any more! ...My attempts failed ...., but no!

You are the champions,- thanks for the reversal of my thoughts!

Well done hpeer!! Truly what a great feeling it is. Happy retirement on your project. She'll keep you busy with something or the other as long as you have her but now you can push off with a purpose.

Si, what's the plan?

Congratulations! December will be here before you know it.

So, what's the plan? Where are you now, and where are you going with the boat?

Our plan had a minor interruption. We retired in September, but couldn't get ready (including offshore insurance) in time to get the boat to Portsmouth in time to join the Caribbean 1500 rally. We had the house sold, so we decided we weren't spending another winter in Ohio. So, we just went ahead and moved to St. Croix, VI. Good call! Now we have to go back and get the boat and bring it down here.

Let us know what your plans are.

Re: That's it, I'm done!

Well that's the problem isn't it, so many plans, so little time.

Probably we will take the big boat down the ICW to somewhere and fart around for a bit. My Wife is still trying to keep a phone practice going.

But......we need to take the small boat back to Newfoundland, and we were thinking of going up the Hudson, out the St. Lawrence, up along the Quebec coast, hang a right at Labrador.

But Cuba is calling, and the small boat (and I am Canadian).

Or.....

Not Cook -- How do you like St. Croix? I had read that the crime rate was very high there, made us hesitate as far as looking for a condo there. We will be getting a boat soon and moving to the islands somewhere. Hope to retire in next 2 years, so have time to decide where yet. Any insight will be helpful.

Re: That's it, I'm done!

Congrats! Now the important part; You are not done. Go out cruising for quite a bit so you know what you need to change or add. THEN , you're done. :>)

I love this hilarious line from the "Captain Ron" movie, but don't get lost in the comedy. It usually happens out there when you don't take care of it before you leave the dock.

I love the freedom of carefree cruising, beautiful days and safe sailing, but if it "happens out there" it's likely due to my oversight when I was at the dock!
