Re: The True Cost of Life Aboard? (not in $ ;) )

Thanks for all the Advice, event he Bad advice! LOL. I do understand things will be vastly different 10-15 years from now. I know our relationship with our family won't be as it is today. But, what I was trying to accomplish was to ping those of you that have a close relationship with your family and get your views and opinions on overcoming/dealing with that obstacle. Keep responding, I'm reading.

One could easily flip this statement:

When one is at the Pearly Gates and someone asks what youve done with your life what are you going to say? I selfishly pursued my own dream at the expense of those who counted on me? Or I took care of my parents as they aged and died, spent time with my children I loved and helped raise my grandkids.

I have seen as many "hollow" cruisers out there who have lost all contact with their children and now travel around with a tangible to others sense of loss - more than I have "bitter" wannabees at the marina or club who never made it out.

Sometimes we get what we want, sometimes we dont. Sometimes we get something in the middle - usually depeends more on luck, timing, and often how important our, oft unasked for, responsibilities to our families are.
