Re: Top Items on board

The watermaker has to be it for us..it completely frees up our movements without having to worry about where the next fill up will come from or having to be a water nazi onboard. An incredible luxury, especially onboard a small boat, to have excellent quality potable water anywhere and all the time.

toddster-
Regular Velcro, even the genuine stuff, lets go in the heat. If you look for 3M's "industrial" version, that is even used on car windshields to hold up toll passes. It does NOT let go in the heat. there's no male/female variety to it, both sides are the same little "mushrooms" on the plastic.
The command strips are also great for lighter loads, clean off easily if you're not sure where something will go.

It is so cool to watch the running lights dim during a mid night sail as the tunes are cranked up !!!
I sure hope you respect those around you who probably don’t want your musical wealth to be forcibly shared.

Re: Top Items on board

My top item has to be the mainsail. It always makes me happy when well trimmed. It is a sailboat after all. Other items that are not top but close:

- Dual bin washing machine with 1,300 rpm dryer that fits in the v-berth space - the best solution for a small boat.

- Vented alcohol heater enclosure for the Original stove. Easiest heating solution for my boat but can get expensive, i.e. $5/night

- Three cameras around the boat allow for steering and situational awareness from the cabin (feed an E80 plotter)

Re: Top Items on board

Other than what I consider rather basic items like sails, tools and a Bluetooth speaker (come on, it's $25), a watermaker is by far our choice item that isn't necessary, but sure is hella nice. Have more thoughts, but I'll keep it at that for now.

Re: Top Items on board

The watermaker. We use water every day. We have hot showers every day. Wash dishes in fresh water. Water the herbs we grow. Even do the laundry in fresh water.

Yet we never have to worry about when or where we can refill our tanks.

Re: Top Items on board

queen size 12" thick memory foam/gel mattress

40" flat screen TV with DVD and mirror cast connection so we can stream video from our unlimited data phone

huge freezer and refrigerator that hold more food and beer than even I can handle

the folding helm wheel to make getting to the BBQ easy

the extra spice racks and the ones we installed in the head to hold stuff so you don't have to dig for them

the generator

curtains

kitchen utensil holder

wifi booster

real plates

USB charger outlets at the settee table fr phones and tablets

fans at key locations

holding tank vent filter

solar

the "small" stuff makes the biggest impact (other than solar) but they cost more than you think if you keep track of them like I do
