pirate Tuesday is move aboard day.

We are very excited, after months of looking, negotiations, trepidation, and moving it will finally happen. We move aboard the Columbia 45 we bought in San Diego and look forward to many adventures aboard.

We were lucky the house in Florida sold within a few days. The worst part was driving cross country with the trailer on back of the car. I never want to tow with a front wheel drive vehicle again, I'll take a good old rear wheel drive pickup anytime for towing. A 4 cylinder Rav 4 is not a good tow vehicle. A great regular car but not for towing.

We've been with the kids for the last couple of weeks until the PO got all her stuff off the boat. We've got everything ready and move aboard Tuesday.

She sails well and everything checked out so we are ready to go. No big trips until we become accustomed to sailing again our last live aboard was power and it has been 12 years since I've sailed anything. So we are going to take classes again and have a certified captain check us out on our boat. Then we can start local cruising.

As they always say I'd rather say I tried it then saying I wish I had tried that when I am too old to do anything.

Outstanding. You've lived long enough to be a burden on your kids!

Sounds like the boat is wonderful. Enjoy!

Congratulations!! I celebrate my move-aboard date each year (well, this coming Nov. 15 will be the second one). Best thing I ever did. What an adventure!

Tell us what you think of it after you've settled in.

Re: Tuesday is move aboard day.

We'll be joining you in the spring. The house is sold, we'll be working locally thru the winter to stockpile some funds and then it's off!!! Good luck to you..

Not sure if this should be a new thread but what do you guys (and others reading this) do when an address is required for something - like documenting the boat or insurance papers, or whatever! Thanks!

We share your excitement ... this life style is going to build many more wonderful memories for you and especially when you finally break free from local waters and head out into 'the deep blue' for distant islands

Re: Tuesday is move aboard day.

Congratulations! I wish we were there now. We have a few more years to wait however, we did buy our cruising boat this year and we are just getting to know her for a few years before the kids are ready for us to leave the nest.
