Washington DC Marina Suggestions

Hi all,

We have a Prout Manta 38 catamaran. Because my current job in Charlottesville, VA is being relocated to TN, I am job shopping. I have an interview this week with a place in Arlington. I was hoping that we might be able to keep the boat at Gangplank Marina and stay aboard Monday through Thursday night (which they allow even for "non-live aboard" slips.) Unfortunately, they don't currently have anything available that will fit a boat 18.5' wide.

Anybody got any alternative marina suggestions within commute distance of DC that would allow us to at least stay aboard 4 nights a week?

Thanks,

Kimarah

Re: Washington DC Marina Suggestions

Depending on the job, I'd look at Annapolis. LOTS of marina opItions there, including fulltime liveaboards. You can take the bus to DC for a reasonable commute time/cost if you work regular hours. Bonus: if your boat is in Annapolis you can be sailing on the Bay in 10 minutes. If your boat is in DC, you are about a day or so down the Potomac before you get to serious sailing. More than makes up for the commute time.

That's a good point. Otherwise, just south of DC Tantallon marina in Fort Washington allows liveaboards.
