Re: Water

Cruising in the tropics, never needed a shower. In the water for most of the day that washed away anything that clung to us. Only freshwater showers were from passing weather which happened often enough to take care of our needs. Really didn't miss fresh water showers. First freshwater shower in Tahiti after six months in the Marquesas and Tuamotus felt totally unnatural.

Washed clothes in salt water, rinsed in salt water and didn't have a problem with them drying. Of course, our clothes consisted of bathing suits and T shirts and not too many of them. With todays synthetics, washing should be even simpler and may not even require a freshwater rinse.

Had 80 gallons of water in two tanks for stowage and a few Gerry Jugs. Never went below half full or had to schlep water to the boat. Used our awning as a rain catcher to keep the tanks full. Of course this was in SoPac which has fairly frequent passing rain clouds
