Re: What boat do you live on?

Sailing the tropical Pacific islands. Presently in the Philippines

My Mariner is small but she has taken me everywhere i point her. Bounced off a few reefs, through storms, and kept going. She is all wood and lots of maintenance haha.
Looking for a larger boat soon.

I am keeen to stress that, having an enclosed bimini around the center-cockpit, l am considering to build up a hard dodger right like on the HR53, as a way to
- have a strong dodger
- Mount rigid solar panels

PLEASE take into account :
- access to a Real engine room
- dedicated space for fuel lines control and filters (in a cabinet! Not in the bilge*!@"grrrr!)
- decent electric panels, bars, wire pipes... without crossing the boat b/forth
- 24V, forget 12V
- keep tanks below feet
- insulate boat ALL AROUND
- don't use cored materials

Best for your studies!

Re: What boat do you live on?

Recently, floating on a 54', l had 2 boats larger than mine, one othermuch larger (5spreaders), 2 similar, and 2-3 smaller.

50' is a good average now, and " big" is over 60' imo (i.e. Hard dink and hydraulic furlers, no less)

Yep
Loving our walk around engine room with 6ft headroom.
Because of this easy access I visit at least twice a day at anchor and every hour on passage.

I too should add that I have a hard dodger and fully enclosed center cockpit which adds a sunroom... this makes a big difference in the winter when days are short and nights are long...
