It can be done.
Is there any other way to circumnavigate? People get all excited about Cape Horn. I am not aware of a real alternative. Straights of Magellan excepted.....just a tad bit north of Cape Horn.

Still...a 60' + performance boat for solo, presumably, circumnavigations is pretty noteworthy.

Why do we rarely seem to hear about Japanese sailors?

This is massive encouragement! You all inspire me. I'm hoping I can sail right up to the nursing home.

Re: Who's still cranking the winch?

As reported in various posts in the past, Ann and I are 77 and 79 respectively. We have been cruising full time since 1986 and are still going. Not as far or as fast as in younger years, and we're more picky about weather before setting out on longer passages, but still enjoying the cruising life. Will continue as long as we can...

Re: Who's still cranking the winch?

hello everyone. I'm 74, live on my Morgan 41 ketch, and sail solo. All my lines come to the cockpit making it easy to sail. Heading back to the Bahamas and Caribbean at the end of the current hurricane season. I have all that I need to be comfortable and I like my comfort. And when the final day comes, I hope they find me at the helm with a smile on my face.

they are all around us on the east coast of australia- in their 60's, 70's, 80's... most people seem to be retired couples.
