A Dockside Sound

I'm not usually dockside. I've loaned my mooring to another boat. Dockside is more social and that's been fun. My new neighbor has a bit more growth on the bottom then I. Older s&s design that's been sailed a bit. Sitting on the cockpit I hear a loud pop much like a steal roof would sound as it cools in the evening. I'm thinking older boat little thermal expansion maybe. I've never seen that before but why not. Now I see the cause there are masses of little fish nibbling along his water line. Every 39 seconds or so one of them takes it's tail and breaks the surface smacking the boat. Wish they would come over and clean my bottom too.

Here in North Carolina (dockside or anchored), there is a popping noise against the hull. Shrimp eating the stuff growing on your boat, but the first time we heard it we sure couldn't figure it out.
