Buying a Catamaran in France

Hello everyone,
I have made offers on 2 Catamarans and was unsuccessful. I have now found a similar cat in France. The price is $50,000 USD less than a similar yacht in the USA.
My plan to s to sail the Eastern Caribbean for a couple of years and then see how far I go.
I realize that there is a substantial cost of shipping or sailing it over. I doubt that I could purchase insurance to cross the Atlantic unless and would need to hire a Captain.
Does anyone have any experience with purchasing in Europe and hiring a Captain to sail along with and learn valuable skills?
