Hey, is it too late to tell Skippy that I saw a shiny pin thingy on the deck a few moments ago?

Many years ago I was crewing in a catamaran race and the mast fell knocking me overboard. The owner of the boat, another teenager, said
"Yea I saw that pin coming out."
"Well, why didn't you tell me?" I asked trying to rub the knot on my head and tread water at the same time.
"What were you going to do about it?'' The skipper asked.
"Get out of the way maybe???.."
