I said it was my last but I can't let that pass without comment - That is an incredible statement given most of your posts - everyone check out Capct posts from the start and determine for yourself who is unable to digest information and who is interested in a good argument.

Alan - good post - the pollution problem is insidious and cleaning up our attitudes and own back yards is the right way to start the process.

Thank goodness for global warming. It's finally staying above 50 degrees F at night as of Saturday night. I can finally start doing some epoxy work.

Even the fruit trees are loving it. The blossoms didn't get froze off this year and the asian pear has hundreds of fruits as well as the blueberries and apples. The dams are backed up full of water and there's still lots of snow on the peaks.

Yep! This is going to be a fruitful summer!

At least this article is saying that the automakers are trying to make a better fuel efficent engine.

Check out this article.

You believe a BBC documentary????? Historically the British media is censored and controlled by the government. Hell, in the Falklands war they even prevented their radio stations playing certain songs as it was deemed against the national interest.
It always makes me giggle when rednecks refer to anyone who is environmentally concious as lefties(McCarthyism, pinko, commie??). I'm far from being a lefty and do not support our current regime in NZ. I guess I am intelligent though so it may seem to the unenlightened to equate the same thing. In NZ we're lucky enough to be able to be an environmentalist & go out hunting animals as they are mostly noxious pests. Some of our greatest environmentally aware people are gun toting good ol boys.

pwederell.

I never said that "I" believed in that article.

All I said. Was that it seems that they are trying to make a better Fuel efficient engine.

P.S. This site does not list the 3 letter's BBC on it.

That is all.

Too true, I was subjected to this joke of a news channel (with no alternative) for a couple of years.

"Alan - good post - the pollution problem is insidious and cleaning up our attitudes and own back yards is the right way to start the process."

At last something we should all be able to agree upon. Making as small a footprint as possible has to be a good thing.

I remember as a kid growing up in teh LA basin. During the summer we could hardly see across a football field. Today the air quality is measuably and visibly better. We are paying for it through the regulations on auto emissions being much more stringent.

As far as climate change - The climates changing. Whoo-hoo!

Let's not throw out the baby (or aircon) with the bath water.

Let's just try to spend more time under sails...

When it does finally reach 50 degrees Celsius in the Puget Sound area, I'm sure you will be singing a different tune regarding global warming. Fifty degrees Celsius equals 122 degrees Fahrenheit!

Just a question - we are being told that when the polar ice caps melt half the world is going to be flooded, but when you melt ice it actually contracts doesn't it? And a great deal of the ice is actually under water isn't it? (North Pole in particular) So won't sea levels actually fall instead of rising?

Hey Del, you can correct other people's posts too!

They're talking about the Antarctic and Greenland iceshelves which are mostly on land so yes, the sea levels will rise. One of the smaller sections of floating iceshelf (Larsen B) collapsed a few years ago but as it was floating it had no effect on sea levels.
