Re: Do You Pee Standing Up

I stand, it doesn't work when I sit. It's too cramped in there and does not evacuate completely when bent like that. TMI I know, right?
However, our head is mounted quite high so aiming isn't hard. It's right there within a few inches of the exit point. Also, if a drop or hair happens to hit the seat (yes I leave it down), I wipe it off immediately. There always seems to be a roll of TP handy.
On deck, in calm weather, I go overboard!

There's probably a word like that in every language, closely followed, when used, by an adolescent snigger.

Any one who feels that gender identity is established by excretory posture needs to rethink a few things.

Or grow up.

Re: Do You Pee Standing Up

I learned a few years ago, through our wives (of course), that a good friend of mine "sits", at his wife's, shall we say... stern request. At first I laughed but promised not to say anything but after thinking about it, realized that it is not because he is whipped but because he is both very thoughtful and very prudent and his decision to follow her wishes undoubtedly has a lot to do with his/their overall happiness and successful marriage.

Bingo! Isn't that what De Tocqueville said about Americans. In Europe if you pee while standing they throw you in the bastille, but you are a hero of the people. In America you are free to pee as you see fit, but will suffer the scorn of the people if they see you pee. So are you really free?

Re: Do You Pee Standing Up

This old time sailor recently had a UT infection. My wife -a very experienced nurse. Says to sit and lean forward when peeing. This will evacuate most of the bladder while peeing standing up will not. Try it. Pee all you can standing up. Then sit-lean forward-and see if you can pee some more. Leaving some in there is part of "social Bladder syndrome" Old pee left in bladder can cause infections.

Not only can I learn about sailing, rules of the road from guys with unlimited tickets... But now I learn I have been peeing wrong for most of my 58 years....

So much to learn.

If you don't like the public facilities in Australia, you really don't want to visit the facilities in Izmir, Turkey. Hole in the floor, no TP just a tap with water and a pitcher. Part of my go with me always kit, is a roll of TP in a zip lock bag, don't leave home without it.

Re: Do You Pee Standing Up

Pee standing up? Pee STANDING UP!?
I am coming out in public here. This is my confession: I am Pee shy. Well I was until a few years ago. Back then I suffered my indignity in silence, seeking the privacy of a head locker, dashing a good distance into the woods or feigning dis-interest in beer! Hah! I thought I was alone in this affliction, until one day, a Wikipedia entry caught my eye:
"Paruresis is also known by many colloquial terms, including bashful bladder, bashful kidneys, mental cloggery, stage fright, pee fright, urophobia, pee-shyness, the slow dribbles, creeping pee-pee, public piss syndrome, shy bladder syndrome." Ah yes, misery loves company. And I learned, it can be cured. And now I am cured!
I cannot describe the pleasure it gives me now to swagger to the pushpit, struggle down my weather gear">foul weather gear, and hang it out. Why, sometimes I will drink extra beer now just for that pleasure alone! Or to go forward to the leeward shroud and with out missing a beat in my conversation with those still aft, I do my business.

Now I hear all you kill joys going on about falling overboard while peeing, with rules, rules, rules about who can pee where and when on your boats. Frankly, I go to sea to get away from rules, a long long way away from rules that seek to substitute for my own good judgement. And so, I say to you, "with a measure of prudence about when it is safe to do so, exercise that greatest of pleasures and pee standing up." Hang it right out there in the cooling breeze, especially at night, when the moon is rising and the following sea is alive in its light. As you shudder in the pleasure of relief, inhale that fresh sea air and thank god you are a man!

It just isn't the same sitting down.
Yes, I hear you,

Yes, I hear you,
Hallelujah Brother! Life is good!

I had a similar problem, peeing in public especially lined up in front of a trough with 10 other guys. I cured myself by thinking a very special happy thought.

What was your cure?

Re: Do You Pee Standing Up

There apparently now is no reason that standing up is restricted to the male cohort of the human population.

Haha! Still it's a bit of a squat. Any girl who has done any camping knows how to squat assisted or not and we do this frequently off the stern. Even my 66 year old mother-in-law does it unless it is very rough. Stand. Sit. As long as you hit the mark!

There is no man in the world whose aim is anywhere near as good as he thinks it is.

On Auspicious and on all my deliveries everyone sits for everything.
