End of the Week Coffee and Weather

Good Morning All....need to get the Coffee started.

Fresh pot of Costa Rica Dark Roast is ready to share. Grab yourself a cup.

Weather here today is -5C, high of +2C later, partly cloudy and light winds in the forecast.

My wife & I are headed to Maui for a week and fly out later today. Really looking forward to the palm trees, sandy beaches and warm weather!

Likely won't do any sailing, but if anyone has a charter company they'd recommend talking to, might consider a day sail.

Have a great day everyone.

Re: End Of The Week Coffee & Weather

mmmm. Friday. No lectures today, just office hours and a department meeting. With any luck I'm back on the boat by 1430h, and I'll have all my papers graded for the weekend by the time the bar opens up at the yacht club.

Heading back up bay tomorrow, rain or shine.

Re: End Of The Week Coffee & Weather

Finishing getting an apt ready for new renter with final tutches today and have to get out early this morning because of the carpet cleaning. We will be getting provisions for a sail tomorrow and Sunday. The weather is a bit gray and temps are about 32 F low and 50 high great sailing weather in the inland pacific north west. No coffee to get my blood going just a pinapple and sausage for breakfast. Were celebrating owning our catamaran one year KEWL.

Re: End Of The Week Coffee & Weather

Had two big expresso's this morning. I'm a little wired. Small craft warnings and tempertures in the low 50's F. Sun is shinining but, it's still watch cap weather! Finally got back on board after the Nor'easter but, not without being greeted with some "artistic" deposits from the Halloween spirits:
THE BIANKA LOG BLOG: THE ART OF A SAILBOAT
Sailed to a nearby harbor and am the only boat in the harbor. Working on a few projects while in the empty mooring field. Checked out an new current meter for electric propulsion system. Should work out great at the helm position. Got some home made Chicken Gumbo for tonights meal. Yummm. Still enjoying some fall cruising here in the Northeast. Nice clear starry nights too!

Re: End Of The Week Coffee & Weather

Low passing over SoCal... barometer starting to climb a bit. Some rain last night this morning temps in the high 50s - low 60s. Breezy with broken clouds and some sun comming through. First night and morning of the season for the wood burning stove. Boat is dry and toasty. Going chocolate with a mocha today... some Schnapps might be interesting but none on hand.
Today more work on drop down galley counter top and will be installing a piece of cut stone above the wood-burner... a contractor buddy had one of his suppliers cut something for me. Will be posting pics of the galley re-do process probably next month once I get the copper sheeting installed.

Will be going down to the boat and getting it ready for an evening sail. Hopefully there will be some wind. Am taking out a fellow whose thinking of buying a Pearson 35 and wants to see what they are like before he spends the money to fly to the mainland to check one out.

I like most of your guys plans better than mine. Going to the boat tommorow to move over for winter hauling.

Re: End Of The Week Coffee & Weather

This morning:
medium sweet Turkish coffee in the cup,
18C out in the sun,
22C in the water,
2 kn on top of the mast,
0 kn on the water,
lots of fish on the border between boat shade and the sunny side.

Today is the Kurban Bayram in Turkey(Sacrificial Holiday from the times when Abraham sacrificed a ram instead of his son), and weathly families will invite butchers to kill a sheep and give out at least 70% of its meat to the less fortunate. There will be celebrations on every city square, fireworks and this holiday will continue for another 3 days. For these days Turkish people will invite everyone to share celebrations with them and there's usually too much eating, drinking, and celebrating going on.

Hand ground columbian perked coffee. Homemade bread. Anchored behind Goat Island on the ICW in NC. Sunny, 55F, winds have gone from gale force winds to small craft. Moving on down south today.

Re: End of the Week Coffee and Weather

Chilly here this Am in Central Fl. Light jacket kinda morning. Looks like it's going to stay overcast all day.Cooling my pipes as I wait until mid month to get back to the boat in NC to head south. Not looking forward to AM's there, will be "COLD". Waiting on a couple of friends to arrive for short visit today, should be nice, usually being at "the house" means I'm missing all my cruising friends. Funny how I am much more social on the water. Anyway, coffee in in the pot and in me, life is good.

Re: End of the Week Coffee and Weather

Ahhh. Mexican hot chocolate this morning. Raining steadily on the bay and in the valley, where I find myself this morning, prepping for a huge 50th anniversary party that we are throwing in 2 weeks...

So no sailing for us!
