Enough CF - I'm Going Sailing !

It's Friday at 5pm and my wife will be home soon. It was over 100 degrees F today in Boston and I've getting a little crazy from the heat and of reading sailing stuff!

Time to go sailing so; when she gets here we'll out of here and should be in open water by around 8 tonight (where there's no more shore hugging small boats, lobster pots, rocks, stupid large rocks that are called islands, and even bouys)! Wonder how far east I need to get tonight for it to cool off? We are just going to point the boat into a broad reach that wouldn't hit land and leave it that way till tomorrow. It's suppose to be cooler later in the weekend and hope they are right has we will need to turn around sometime in a day or so.

What are the rest of you doing for the weekend?

I wonder if there's anything good to drink on the boat after last weekends guests?

Re: Enough CF!

Fitting a boat heater no really, they are discounted at this time of year so I bought one. Small matter of drilling, cutting GRP work and then wiring it all up. Should take about 3 weekends.

I am just outside if Bellingham WA and it has been raining and cold all day. Had a fire in the woodstove yesterday. Hiking up Mt Baker in the morning in the snow ... not too hot out here.

Re: Enough CF !

Parking is always at a premium down at the bay on weekends this time of year so I'm happy to stay home and build a filter system, weed the garden, brew some beer and so forth. Monday I'm headed to the boat and will clean the fuel, start installing a water maker. Hopefully I'll be taking a little sea cruise come next weekend.

Oo wee, oo wee baby, won't you let me take you on a sea cruise!

It's cold here in Monterey California. Dripping blowing fog. Bleh. But the MotoGP is here.

Re: Enough CF !

I second what Blue Stocking said, this has been the coolest summer I can remember in Bermuda. I guess the Gulf Stream is swallowing up all that heat. Although it is a little warmer now that TS Bret dragged some warm southern air with him. Now I gotta go look up Mark's developing hurricane. Oh dear ...

Re: Enough CF !

I'm going the opposite direction. Just spent 8 days cruising Casco Bay, with constant air conditioning coming off the 61-degree water. Joy, joy, and more joy! Then, alas, took the boat out Thursday and drove home through the landlubber's BLAST FURNACE. And cars and traffic and crowds and pavement and malls. Just awful.

Two more weeks till we head to Cape Cod for a week or two. . . .

Re: Enough CF !

Installing deck hardware with MaineSail's butyl tape and "tighten it right now" technique. This is a true leap of faith for a Don Casey lover like me, but I've had nothing but deck leaks on assorted boats over a lifetime. Old dog, new trick.

Raking leaves, installing a new air conditioner in a tenant's apt, cleaning up my shop, then going to work 0800 Sunday morning for 24 hours.... You should have posted this two weeks ago.... I was actually cold then...

Going to install a mermaid 12K btu A/C in my IP 31 as soon as UPS delivers it. Got the wiring in, the duct almost in, the new Groco Strainer, pump mounting and A/C mounting platform just about done.
