Re: I got my Captain's License!

Congrats. I got mine two years ago. Now if I can just find someone to pay me to sail their boat to or from the Caribbean for them...

;-)

Re: I got my Captain's License!

Last summer I was at the PNW Latt's & Att's crusers party in Anacourtes WA and won a $1200.00 captians course from Raggs at the Maritime Institute out of San Diago. Knowing I could not pass the drug test because of my WA state perscription drugs for artheris so I gave it to my wife, who has great testing skills and has been a sailer for over 50 years. She is hesitante to take the course because by law she would be more responsitiable than a normal citisen with a state's boaters licence which she just got. I can see wanting a job transporting yachts but sailing our own boat we get no extra discounts on insurance or any other advantages as I know of. I told her to just audit the course so we know what's what and keep the course material for reference.

Congratulations on getting your license. Now that you have it what will you do with it or did you get it just to get it?

Re: I got my Captain's License!

dont give up on getting a position that pays you. might want to build a small web site about yourself so owners can take a look at ABOUT you and what you have done and why they should hire you,,, can host for 10 dollars a month and cheaper if you want free but free does not alow you to build a custom site, it uses templates,,, this will be a GREAT advertising position for you,, I have doneit and for the 2k I have put into the site over 10 years including hosting and mail it has been worth it

Good on you, that looks like a great gig. I think most of the responses were directed to Lowcountry’s post.

Congrats!!!

Nice looking boat. Nice clean website, too.

I gather they sometimes take a high-school sports team across? They might add a gallery section of photos of the boat in various situations. Some with the sports team. Some with maybe a wedding party. Some at various docks, etc. Photos of the crew would be a nice touch, as well. Basically, something to humanize the site.

Does it feel as exiting as when you finally got your driving license?

Thanks for the tips Dan, good call. As soon as we start to amass some more people pictures that's just what we'll do.

Seriously, FYI, I am definitely not a power boater. It took some getting used to actually getting to where I was going. Everyone on the boat was wondering why I kept zigzagging all over the place and seemed confused when I told them I was tacking.

Congratulations!

I wouldn’t think you’d want to post your full name, date & place of birth on the internet, nor your full address.
