It's a form of discipline for children we find effective here, Chris . . . the frazzled young mothers take their brats down to Mothers Beach and . . . well, let's just say a lot more child car-seats seem to show up in The Recycler than you might otherwise expect. We call that little feeding frenzy action off Mothers Beach "sanitizing the gene pool."

What type of sharks? Most shark species are harmless to humans.

Most sharks are pretty harmless to humans but the Delaware and South Dakota Gray Loan Sharks have been known to attack.

I caught a spiny dogfish a couple of days ago. It's a small species of shark - this one was about 2 feet long. I released him very gingerly. My grandma what big teeth you have! For a little guy he had quite a set of chompers.

Of course these are harmless but...

These sharks might have been harmless but from where I was standing (well clear of the water) they looked to be about 6' long and there were lots and lots of them. And they looked hungry.

I didn't try to make friends...

I flew over to spy on chat to the local Moderators and Advisors. There's quite a few in Ca. Probably why the property's starting to dip below the mil mark.

I married a loan shark (one of her many complimentary skills ). I'd have opted to upset Jaws.......

Can't say I fully subscribe to the view that Sharks are really cuddly creatures who make good pets

We get a lot of smaller Leopard sharks (under 6') that come in to the shallow water each year off La Jolla Shores primarily to breed, but I've never hear of anyone in the water with them getting nipped at.

If you want to have fun with big sharks dinghy into Highborne Cay, Exumas, Bahamas just after the sport fishing fleet returns. They have a high platform overhanging the marina channel and clean their fish there. The scraps go into the channel and some humping big daddy sharks fight for the scraps inches from your nice inflatable tubes of your dinghy. Lot of fun.

From the Monday, 30 August 2010, Los Angeles Times:

"Leopard sharks give a thrill at Mother's Beach

"The area tends to attract some every year, but this summer there are more of them and they're sticking around longer, much to most spectators' enjoyment."

Come out to the East Coast and visit cape cod. A number of Great Whites have been spotted, some fairly close to shore as well. I think 15' was the biggest i had heard of.

A number of beaches have been closed off and on because of the sightings.
