Late Fall has arrived along the Chesapeake

The corn is in and most of the soybeans. It's a great time for a long walk or hike.

Re: Late Fall has arrived along the Chesapeake

And it's finally cruising season in the middle latitudes. If hurricanes weren't so capricious it could be a longer season. I think a lot of cruisers need a break from cruising anyway so taking a few months off is not so bad. Tough life. I'm not sure where everybody goes during the summer. A lot of people have homes somewhere, some visit people and family somewhere. You hear a lot about grandkids.

Re: Late Fall has arrived along the Chesapeake

Having actual seasons again after living in Florida for years was a pretty nice reward for having to relocated a few years ago back up here near where I grew up

Summers are nice also. It's no where near as hot as say on the Gulf Coast

You do have to buy pretty much all new clothes though because your Florida/ Latitude 30 and below clothes do not work when temperatures stay near or below 40 degrees for a few months

Hiking the fields again though is the best. Smelling soybeans being harvested and listening to the diesel engines on the tractors and combines brings back lots of memories of long days in the fields

It was then that I first started watching the weather closely. Being on a tractor in the middle of a 200 acre plus field gives you a really good view.

Right there with you. Just got in from a walk in the frost in Virginia's Northern Neck area. We are continually delighted by the beauty of country living.

Later today I may try rowing out in the skiff looking for rock fish.

Enjoy your late fall, winter set in here two weeks ago with a nice 12" snowfall, and the highest temp since then has been 34 F, or so. Right now it's 27F.
