I love teaching newbies about the "buoy races" we have on the SF Bay. The races are especially exciting when the current is running over 3 knots. They even have their own racing numbers, special colors and leave a pretty impressive wake! Its in the rules that the buoys always have the right of way, even the ships go around them.
