Marine Swap Meets/Flea Markets?

Hi guys,

I'm wondering about the illusive marine swap meets stocked with oodles of cheap sailing gear! I've heard of them, searched for them... and only come up with Dania in Miami, and 48north in Washington. Any others out and about?

My searches keep finding automotive swap meets, and aquarium swaps...

I went to the Dania Marine Flea Market last week.

Lots of junk, but also some jewels. (Brand new 4 stroke Mercury outboard motors, 2.5 HP, 3 year warranty, $500.00)

Also lots of used stuff, but nothing really worth coming across the country for.

This guys have as much or more in stock every day:

I remember when i was a kid and we had a boat in Kemah, TX they had a pretty big flea market once a year or so.

It was pretty big and we bought anold 20hp merc outboard there for $50. It was junk though, drive shaft was all pitted and kept tearing up seals.

But i wouldn;t recomend a pilgrimage out there. I don;t even know if they hold it anymore, I have been out of the area for so long

The swap meet is still going strong in Kemah. Some times you can find good stuff and some times just junk. But one mans junk is another mans treasure.

Do they really have cruiser tables in marinas, were sailors leave misc gear
that they no longer need...for the next cruiser who may be able to use?

There use to be some great one in Northern Ca. But "the pro's" always had the same junk for buku bucks. I have found e-bay is a great source now.

Thanks guys!

I've seen a few tables at marinas for swapping gear, great idea in general.
