National Geographic Photo Contest Pics

"National Geographic is currently holding its annual photo contest, with the deadline for submissions coming up on November 30. For the past nine weeks, the society has been gathering and presenting galleries of submissions, encouraging readers to vote for them as well.

National Geographic was kind enough to let me choose among its entries from 2011 for display here on In Focus. Gathered below are 45 images from the three categories of People, Places, and Nature, with captions written by the individual photographers

I posted it to show the 45 photos; not as an announcement to enter the contest.

Have you considered a career in talk radio?
I bet you'd be a natural.

Re: National Geographic Photo Contest Pics

I know I'm just having a little fun with you. I mean look at it this way, how unfair would it be to have a bunch of cruising junkies who have been all over the world compete with the armchair crowd? By the way great photos.

Re: National Geographic Photo Contest Pics

I'm an old-school photographer myself, grew up using a 4 x 5 sheet film camera. You can get very creative when you can control the lens plane and the film plane. Today I just do point-and-click with my digital camera. I am into the little hot rod called the bucket T, a very high power to weight ratio ride. On the shot I used a long focal length to compress the background. It shows that hot rods can live in harmony, as you see a blown Ford, Chevrolet and Mopar.

I know after seeing all those beautiful National Geographic photographs, this one is a bit of a letdown. These cars are really a hoot to drive.

This one is my little Track-T, picture taken at Coloma California, where John Marshall discovered gold.

I promise to stop boring you now.

PM in the mail.

I like my call sign also, probably the only pleasure craft Maritime Mobile running a resonant antenna and 1500 watts output.
