Indeed.

On November 12, 1970, the Oregon Department of Transportation blew up a dead whale that had washed up on a Florence beach. In what was called a "controlled explosion," they used a half-ton of dynamite. It didn't go well. Chunks of dead whale blubber ended up all over both bystanders and the beach, flying out as far as a nearby parking lot where the flying flesh severely damaged at least one car.

Re: Nautical Oddities

Around here we call that a waterspout. Nothing to sneeze at, but not as dangerous as a tornado.

Indeed.
The main distinction between a tornado, and a waterspout, is that a tornado occurs over land, while a waterspout [being a type of tornado] occurs over water.
A fair weather waterspout does tend to be weaker. The force of friction is weaker over water, thus there is less air available, to be drawn into the circulation.
However, a mesocyclonic [tornadic] waterspout has the same characteristics as a land tornado. They are associated with severe thunderstorms, and are often accompanied by high winds, and seas, large hail, and frequent dangerous lightning.

Baby Shark Born Into All-Female Tank Could Be Scientific First

A smooth-hound shark was recently born into an all-female tank, in an Italian aquarium. The birth, said scientists, could be the first recorded asexual birth [via parthenogenesis] for the species.

Re: trawler in NJ. That is very near where a sailboat hit the Barnegat Light North jetty last week or so. 3 crew rescued with no injury but boat was a total loss.
