Imho, that's only a deal if you can harvest $600 worth of blackberries off the brambles in the first season.

The graphics on the side of this on are very urban chic.

Re: Post the Worst "For Sale" Picture You've Seen.

MUST GOO!
NEEDS MASK! (awww... don't be so harsh on the poor little tub)
.
Not sure what this guy is describing?
.
so... no mast, no standing rigging, no running rigging, no sails, no tiller, no rudder, no anchor/chain/rode, no engine, no title, and..... NO SEAT CUSHIONS
.
No idea if the tarp-and-lumber hatch come with it...
Yet... this is worth DOUBLE WHAT HE'S ASKING!

PERFECT FOR THAT BEGINNING SAILOR!
.
I felt sorry that his Uncle dumped this on him to get rid of so quick... sent him a list of things I could see it needed (and from the description/details he sent me) and the approximate cost just to have all the parts so it could sail... I didn't say safely, just... sail!....
.
Suggested he call around to charity outfits to see if they'd like the donation.
.
And I definitely know that none of our local marinas would allow this for a liveaboard... but I suppose we're an anomaly?

Re: Post the Worst "For Sale" Picture You've Seen.

Oh....I got such a great laugh from many of the replies on this thread. And, it's very instructive too! Especially about "the time vampire". So true.

I don't have any photos to provide but many of the worst ones are on Craigslist. Many boats in a certain age-size range end up as "flunky boats" that don't need "TLC"- they to be scrapped or sent to Davey Jones.

SailboatListings.com has a good assortment of "boats" too. And, to be sarcastic, many of the "owners" probably don't want to sell their boats anyway. How do I know? Look at the lousy pictures they provide- it sends clear statement- this boat wont sell and I'll make sure of it by posting awful pictures.

There are many ways to sell a boat and weeding out the "tire-kicker-time-wasters" is essential.

Never in my life have I had the happy experience of owning some piece of real-estate or boat and had someone....as the story always goes...walk up to me and ask, "you wanna' sell that?"

However, when I sold my Catalina 30 MkIII, I made a website with the boats name as the domain name and posted sufficient photographs on respective pages, galley, deck, etc, and boat details to help promote the sale. SailboatListings or that Texas site (stupid name) were of no use in the process.

So.....put a listing up on ebay and guess what? It didn't sell there either! But, here's the good part- a man that saw the boat on ebay contacted me after the listing ended and a few weeks later bought it.

The entire process took about 2 months and the success was largely caused by the listing on ebay which was about 1month or so into the effort to sell the boat.

Perhaps an oddity was in my method. I told all perspective buyers as much as I knew about the boat both the good and the bad. And, as they were told, "you're going to find out about the problems anyway so I'm telling you now...but, don't think I'll change the price because while I'm desperate to sell this boat, I'm not stupid".

The "tire-kickers". Ugh, what a dreadful lot they are! Oh sure I'll drive 60 miles just to give you a ride on my boat. There must be a book written by some scoundrel who brags about getting free boat rides.

Ok...here's a picture I just found. And look- it has beautiful view of the land! I tell you, maties, we're in the wrong business! That mast in scrap value would be worth a fair amount!

I think you misunderstand ..... he's not selling it, he's offering $8,500 to you for taking it away.

Bet you could get him up to 10k easy

Re: Post the Worst "For Sale" Picture You've Seen.

Alright, alright you "nah sayers". That's enough!

That's a good "starter boat" and you can put some good sweat-equity into it not unlike the stupidity of buying a house.

And look- it floats!

So it's bare on the inside! That's a palate for your artistic work.

You see a derelict. I see a "home on the water" and a formidable yacht named "Adventure".

There has got to be some service that'll tow your "boat" out beyond territorial limits and sink it. Like a "one way towing service".
