Re: Post the Worst "For Sale" Picture You've Seen.

I'm enjoying the irony of this thread with hundreds of posts about stupid pictures that didn't achieve the objective... filled with long-expired links instead of, you know, PICTURES.

They were really amusing when they were posted and we enjoyed them at the time.

But there's little point in reading old posts in this thread.
You can't expect links to advertisements to stay live for years

Re: Post the Worst "For Sale" Picture You've Seen.

I noticed they went from honest to marketing BS in one sentence:

Quote:
" Alexaline "is offered for sale primarily as an excellent live-board, the current owners enjoyed of it for 18 years in the SF Bay Area but with an additional investment will be ready to explore the oceans again.
I especially liked the use of the phrase "additional investment." It's only February and we already have a candidate for "Understatement of the Year." I'll be looking for a chance to use that phrase myself some day.

Another one of those where I think, "My God! What did they do to that poor boat!?!"

I personally reacted at «*again*»... as if this lovely boat had crossed oceans before...!?!

Perhaps a conversion to a motor trawler and lost interest after he got the house constructed?

Yes, that was my point. If the photos were actually uploaded to the thread we'd still be able to enjoy them!

+1

Pics [in the thread] or it didn't happen.

Having to follow a link just removes the magic.

Re: Post the Worst "For Sale" Picture You've Seen.

I'm an advocate for putting photos in the forum's album* for insertion into a thread. You know they'll be there for as long as the forum is.

That said, there is some "magic" in seeing the ad in it's native environment with a link to Craig's List or wherever it was originally posted.

No reason you can't do both.

That boat? is a special kind of ugly!

Across Oceans? Not even likely across the Bay!

It is roomy thought....

I was crew (not for long ) on a 90' yacht "they" refurbished. They threw out the galley refrigeration and much of the salon furniture replacing with household items including a 36" TV on top of a TV stand. Remember tube TVs in the olden days?
Well, a return trip up the Florida gulf coast it blew just a little. You can imagine what happened to the fridge contents and the TV.
And the Gulf of Mexico is one of the most benign bodies of water on the planet.
I did not last long at that job. I was labled an "alarmist". Heh.

Not a worst picture by a longshot. Just unusual in that it includes a "tow-goat".
